Troy 27 Springfield North 7

It's hard--extremely hard--to believe that the season is 50% over already. The weeks go by so slowly during the offseason, and then they pass by so quickly once the season starts.

Halfback Corey Brown had another stellar game, rushing for 280 yards and 2 TDs on 28 carries. He's just phenomenal to watch. When he gets the ball, he has another gear that most players just don't have. He explodes through the hole, and once he gets to the second level, he's got a full repertoire of moves that get him even further. He's one of the best Trojan running backs I've seen, and that's about as high praise as I can give.

The defense did a nice job as well, holding the Panthers to just 7 points. They gave up some yards (230, to be exact), but they held them when it mattered--in the red zone. They came up with some key turnovers and did exactly what they needed to do to win the game.

The midway point of the season finds the Trojans with a winning record at 3-2. They've got a tough slate remaining, but fortunately three of the five games are at home. Coming up this Friday, they've got the Aviators from Vandalia Butler (3-2) coming to town. It's Homecoming Week in Troy, so hopefully the good guys can put up a W to kick off the celebration.
