#600!
600 Words for Junior
I'm not ashamed to admit that I got just the slightest bit teary last night when I watched Ken Griffey Jr. hit the 600th home run of his career, and again tonight while watching a short retrospective of his career milestones. His dad was one of my favorite players when I was a little kid, and Junior became another favorite when he started his career in Seattle in 1989, when I was 11. I've got his rookie cards, and a baseball signed by both him and his dad. I've been following him for 19 years, he's one of my favorite players playing for my favorite team, and last night I saw him do something that only five other people have done before in the long, storied history of Major League Baseball. Simply amazing.
